How Mortal Kombat 11 Generated Over $500 Million in Profit?

Mortal Kombat is straight up dominating the fighting game scene, and it ain’t even close. This bad boy has been around for 30 years and it’s still smashing records like nobody’s business. And get this, y’all: Mortal Kombat 11 has raked in over $500 million in pure profit.

According to Tech4Gamers, an ex-Global Brand Manager for Mortal Kombat spilled the beans on LinkedIn, revealing that as of February 2022, MK11 has “generated over $500MM in LTD profit.” And it’s no surprise, really. Since dropping in April 2019, MK11 has sold a whopping 15 million copies across every platform you can think of: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC, and even Nintendo Switch.

MK11 also dished out some juicy DLC and had a premium store like Fortnite, which only added to the already stacked revenue streams. So, yeah, that $500 million is totally legit.

Now, with Warner Bros. raking in all that dough, it’s no shocker that NetherRealm is reportedly gearing up for Mortal Kombat 12. But let’s hope the success of MK11 doesn’t lead Warner Bros. down the wrong path. We’ll just have to wait and see.

But let me ask you, my fellow gamers: Did you play MK11? Are you hyped for the sequel? Would you rather see NetherRealm drop MK12 or Injustice 3 next? Hit us up in the comments below!
