Destiny 2: The Final Shape set to launch in February 2024
Bungie just dropped some major bombs at their annual Destiny 2 expansion reveal event! The hype train has left the station as they unveiled The Final Shape expansion, promising to finally tie up the epic ‘Light and Darkness’ story arc that kicked off with Destiny 1 way back in 2014.
Last year, Bungie was totally slaying it with The Witch Queen expansion, and for a hot minute, I thought they had cracked the code for delivering epic, long-term storytelling. But then, bam! Lightfall hit like a wet noodle—seriously, story-wise it was a letdown. And those follow-up seasons? Meh, not enough to keep me glued.
But hold onto your controllers, because The Final Shape is here to save the day! This expansion is the grand finale we’ve all been waiting for, the epic conclusion to the saga that Destiny 1 started all those years ago.
So, remember that jaw-dropping moment in Lightfall when The Witness, leader of the dark side, crashed The Traveller’s party? Yeah, that mysterious glowing ball that gives Guardians their superpowers? Well, turns out inside The Traveller lies The Pale Heart. And guess what? That’s where we’re gonna throw down with The Witness, a showdown of cosmic proportions. Our mission? Stop The Traveller from turning into space debris or being weaponised against us. No pressure, right?
Hold onto your loot, because The Witness is gonna be the ultimate raid boss in The Final Shape. Now, usually, we’re talking four seasons in a year, right? Well, Bungie’s throwing us a curveball: 2024 gets sliced into three mega ‘episodes’ of Destiny 2 awesomeness. These episodes are gonna be chunkier than a raid boss and will dive deep into the aftermath of The Final Shape’s epic campaign. Brace yourselves, because this is the setup for the next gaming saga that’ll have Destiny die-hards drooling.
Circle the date in your gamer calendar: Destiny 2: The Final Shape crash-lands on February 27th, 2024. Get your snacks ready, your console warmed up, and prepare to dive headfirst into the gaming event of the year!
