PlayStation’s Big Showcase Reportedly Slated for September

After Sony’s State of Play event back in February, speculation quickly fired up around a potential summer PlayStation Showcase. Fans were hoping for a major reveal season—but it looks like the gaming giant is playing the long game. According to fresh reports, Sony’s next big event is now eyeing a September launch.

The buzz started when well-known industry insider NateDrake chimed in on fan discussions about a summer event. “I still haven’t heard anything about a May event from Sony for this year,” he revealed, throwing cold water on previous rumours of an early showcase. Pressed for more details, Nate confirmed he’s heard nothing concrete about any mid-year show.

But the story doesn’t end there.

Another credible source, ResetEra’s John Harker, stepped in with a clearer picture. According to Harker, Sony is indeed prepping something big—currently penciled in for September. And if that timeline holds, we’re likely looking at a full-scale PlayStation Showcase rather than a smaller State of Play.

So, what might be on the menu? While official details are still under wraps, one title looms large: Ghost of Yotei. With the anticipated Sucker Punch sequel launching in October, you can bet it’ll be a major highlight of the show.

For now, it’s a waiting game—but September could be packed with announcements, gameplay reveals, and maybe even a few surprises. Stay tuned.
