PAX Australia 2024: Gamers, Weddings, and Epic Showcases Await in Melbourne
PAX Australia 2024 is just around the corner, and Melbourne is about to be transformed into a gaming paradise. From October 11-13, tens of thousands of fans will flock to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre for what promises to be one of the most exciting gaming events of the year.
Gaming Giants Take Center Stage
This year, some of the biggest names in gaming will be out in full force. Bethesda Softworks, Blizzard Entertainment, Devolver Digital, SEGA, and Aussie favorite Playside Studios are just a few of the powerhouse brands attending. Expect to see major titles like FINAL FANTASY XIV Online and exclusive showcases from PC Game Pass and Steam.
Love and Games: The First-Ever PAX Weddings
In a PAX first, indie game publisher Devolver Digital and Aussie game developer Massive Monster are teaming up to host actual weddings at the event! On Sunday, October 13, two lucky couples will say their vows in a life-size replica of the Cult of the Lamb temple—how’s that for a gaming-themed happily-ever-after?
Dive Into Bethesda’s Immersive World
Bethesda fans, rejoice! You’ll get the chance to visit a pop-up Elder Scrolls themed tavern, where you can grab a drink and unwind. Plus, the Fallout 76 lounge will be the perfect spot to kick back and relax after hours of gaming.
Hands-On with Ubisoft’s Latest: Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Ubisoft is bringing their A-game with a hands-on demo of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the main expo floor. Even better, fans can meet the game’s director, Charles Benoit, and hear insights straight from the source.
Esports, Photo Ops, and New Expansions
If esports is your thing, don’t miss the Rainbow 6 Siege showcase on Friday, October 11. Fans of life simulator The Sims will also be treated to the latest expansion and plenty of Instagram-worthy photo ops. SEGA’s bringing the heat with new games like Sonic X Shadow Generations, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and Two Point Museum.
Tabletop Titans Take Over
This year’s event boasts the largest tabletop and trading card area ever. You’ll find Disney’s Lorcana, Star Wars Unlimited, and Magic: The Gathering, along with meet-and-greets with Melbourne’s own Disney Lorcana artist, Matt Chapman. Magic: The Gathering will also be hosting “learn to play” sessions, giving you the chance to dive into the newly launched Duskmourn: House of Horror set.
