Dragon Age: Inquisition’s Legacy surpasses 12 Million units
With the upcoming release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard next month, Bioware and EA have become increasingly candid about the legacy of the series’ last instalment—Dragon Age: Inquisition, now nearly a decade old. While the game was known for its commercial success, long-term sales figures were never fully disclosed—until now.
In response to a discussion on X regarding the game’s performance, Mark Darrah, the executive producer of 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition, offered a surprising revelation about the RPG’s success. Darrah clarified, “I’m not sure where the idea that Inquisition was a commercial failure came from… It’s over 12 million at this point. MASSIVELY [sic] oversold the internal EA projections.”
This impressive milestone cements Inquisition as the best-selling Bioware game to date, surpassing fan-favourite titles like Mass Effect and Knights of the Old Republic.
As anticipation builds for The Veilguard, its performance in a market now influenced by the success of Baldur’s Gate 3 will be intriguing to watch, especially given the long wait since the last Dragon Age entry.
